Grounded 2: Early Access, Release Date, Storyline and More!

The gameplay of Grounded was one of the biggest reasons why it has so many fans. You were one of four teens who were kidnapped by Ominent and have now shrunk down to the size of an insect. It was all about surviving the odds and finding the pieces of the machine to get back to normal. As this game was loved by so many players, the creators have decided to make Grounded 2. 

Yes, you read it right. The second season of Grounded is on the way. But with this exciting news, a lot of questions come to our minds. Will the gameplay be the same, or will there be some changes? Is Ominent back? What about the SPAC.R? And the most important, when will we get to play it? Well, you will get the answer to all your doubts in this guide. 

Grounded 2: Release Date

Grounded 2 is on the way and will be available for early access on July 29, 2025. It was revealed during the recent Xbox Games Showcase 2025 as part of Summer Game Fest. However, it is still not clear when it will get a full release, as it took 2 years for the release of the first Grounded after it went into the early access process.

Grounded 2: Platforms Where It Will Be Launched?

With a brand new gameplay, Grounded 2 is all set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC for early access. At present, there is no such information on release on a PS5 or Nintendo release. However, as in the case of the first part, the game was released on Switch, PS4, and PS5 after some time. We can speculate to get Grounded 2 on other consoles as well once the game is fully released.

Grounded 2: Storyline

Grounded 2 will follow the storyline from where the first game left off. It will follow the story of the four original teens who are still missing. As you saw that the Ominent was behind the kidnapping of the kids in the first part, the second part will again see Ominent back in the game. In the Xbox Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2025, it was revealed that the company that tested on kids is back again and playing the old tricks. You will again have to survive. 

The development team at Eidos Montreal and Obsidian Entertainment also revealed that the world will be larger than before, having new biomes.

Grounded 2: Game Play

In an interview with Games Radar, Chris Parker showed how hard it was to work on Xbox One. Here is what he said: 

“One argument for Grounded 2 was that the original worked on Xbox One. It would have been very hard to continue working on that platform – to continue expanding the world and do everything that we wanted to do.” He also added, “These sorts of technical limitations are solvable, so long as you’re willing to deal with whatever the ramifications are.”

However, as far as the gameplay is concerned, it is very easy to guess that it will be a survival game. You’ll again explore a huge world where everything looks giant. In addition to that, you will also have to search for materials, fight bugs, and explore dungeons. You will also need to collect upgrades to become a powerful tiny warrior.

As you move through the story, you’ll unlock new gear and tools that make surviving easier. Of course, survival is the toughest job. You will have to deal with hunger, thirst, and stamina to survive. If you are out searching for food at night, be careful. The enemies are more dangerous at night. 

Just like the first part, Grounded 2 also has a co-op feature. You can use this feature to play with your friends. This feature can help you to get shielded while fighting giant bugs and vice versa. However, if you love playing solo, you can do that too.
