Good news for all Minecraft lovers — A Minecraft Movie is set to be released this year. The fun game, Minecraft was officially launched in 2011 for kids. However, it was so fun and imaginative that it gained many adult fans too. The game revolves around building your house using your imagination and the same will be the plot of this movie, just with some twists.

After waiting for many years, Minecraft fans have finally received some good news. You will soon enjoy a Minecraft Movie this year. According to Screen Rant, A Minecraft Movie is set to be released on April 4, 2025. Fans have been waiting for this date since 2014 when the first announcement was made regarding the release of it. The movie was about to film in 2023 but due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, it got delayed. However, the production was wrapped up in April 2024 and now is ready to come on the screens this year.

With the announcement of the release date, fans are excited to know the star cast playing the characters of Minecraft. Here is the list of star cast that you will see in the movie:

A Minecraft Movie: Promo Trailer

The first official teaser for A Minecraft Movie was released in September 2024. It was a 75-second clip showing Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison, Natalie, Henry, and Dawn wandering across the vast landscape of the Overworld. We can hear Steve saying, “Step right this way! Anything you can dream about here, you can make.”

This teaser shows that the Overworld is home to several square-shaped animals including evil-looking pigs, pink sheep, howling wolves, and goofy llamas. Steve on the other hand is not liked much by others. Natalie with a roll of her eyes says “This guy is such a toolbag,” for Steve.

However, the full trailer arrived in November 2024 and is narrated by Steve.

Once he’s made it through the portal, he added a warning “Dark voices who want to destroy this world”. In addition to that, he also stated “If we wanna stop them, we’re gonna need to create something amazing. Let’s go to the stash.”

A Minecraft Movie: Plot

I am sure you must know that the game doesn’t have a real story. Minecraft is all about using your own imagination. You will create homes for creepers. However, the movie may be a little different from it. They have taken inspiration from Jumanji’s approach to its plot. There will be four “misfits” who will get into the Overworld. However, to get back to the real world, they will need to get the help of master crafter Steve.

Steve is the blue shirt-wearing mascot of the Minecraft franchise. With the help of him and by using their creativity, misfits will have to overcome various challenges, such as zombies. It is expected that the story will have plenty of comedy.
